PAST PROJECT

Living Life Wide Open

My client first contacted me a year and a half ago. She is the widow of an avid Harley-Davidson rider, and when she first contacted me, she was not quite ready to let her husband’s shirts go.

These shirts, which reflect the Harley shop he had visited on motorcycle rides, as well as some which were gifted by friends or came from his career, have meant a lot to my client, and she knew that at some point she wanted them made into a quilt.

There is no one way to grieve or a one-size-fits-all timeline, and it is so important that clients feel comfortable to honor memories in the way that feels most precious for them. For this client, that time came three years after her husband passed away. I am so grateful she entrusted me with creating this quilt for her and these pillows for other family members.

“This is the quilt that Diane did for me. They are my husband’s Harley Davidson shirts that he used to wear. They have some great memories for me. I can enjoy them now. She did a great job on the quilt. Forever grateful…”
